A newly wed Fazeley couple’s 2018 Valentine’s Day celebrations will be forever engraved in their memories after winning a unique keepsake in a Tamworth Co-op prize draw.
Simon and Jenny Williams’ fingerprints were etched onto a glass heart, along with the date of their marriage, using the latest digital technology to create a lasting memento they can treasure.
Tamworth Co-op provided the gift as part of its new service offering people the opportunity to have fingerprints of loved ones placed onto a wide range of ornaments and jewellery.

Simon and Jenny had their index fingers scanned on a small wireless device. The images were then transmitted via a mobile phone to Canada, where the technique was developed, for the impressions to be embedded into the heart.
Tamworth Co-op’s funeral division introduced the Legacy Expressions range to bring comfort to the bereaved by giving them a precious memory of a relative. However, Amanda Woodward, head of the funeral service, said the gifts are also perfect for happy events such as engagements, weddings and christenings.
“The possibilities are endless. For example, you can also have a fingerprint engraved on a photograph frame alongside someone’s picture. We can even capture a baby’s footprint on glass, silver or gold.”
Jenny, a mobile hairdresser, met her future husband while cutting his hair in the Mile Oak salon where she previously worked. She said they were ‘surprised and delighted’ when they found out they had won the prize.
“I just thought it was so different when I saw the prize draw published in the Tamworth Herald. I haven’t seen anything like this before. It’s so lovely to have something to remember our first Valentine’s Day together since we got married and to have our fingerprints recorded for posterity. It will take pride of our place in our living room and we can hand it down to our relatives in future.”
Simon, who works as a sorter for UPS in Dordon, added: “It’s a brilliant idea. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to celebrate a special occasion. It’s a really simple and quick procedure.”
