Major 'Store Twenty One' Re-fit work begins

Work has begun on a major re-fit of the in-store concession 'Store Twenty One' on the ground floor of the Tamworth Department Store. The work is anticipated to take around 3 weeks with a completion date of 20th March 2010. The changes will see the concession move it's entire offering which includes Ladieswear, Childrenswear, Menswear, Footwear and Houseware to a newly re-fitted area on the ground floor. The work is set to include a new till point, flooring and lighting alongside all new fixtures and fittings offering our customers a bright and modern shopping experience. Some minor disruption is expected to parts of the ground floor as the re-fit takes place, however all parts of the Department Store will remain open as usual. We look forward to welcoming you to our new and improved 'Store Twenty One' soon.

Tamworth Co-op

The co-operative movement has its roots in the 19th Century when the industrial revolution resulted in widespread exploitation and misery for many working people. One particular form of exploitation that was common was the way that many people found it difficult to obtain good quality food at a fair price. The development of shops had not kept pace with the growth of the new industrial communities and often families had no choice but to buy from unscrupulous local shopkeepers who had a monopoly on trade and therefore were able to charge high prices or adulterate their goods.
