Marina Hutton, manager of the Tamworth Co-op convenience store in Stretton, causes Brownies to jump for joy as she hands over a cheque for £770.

Brownie leader Carol Johnson said the Brownies themselves would decide where they go for the day.

“They can choose between something like a trip to Cadbury’s World or maybe a coach trip to the seaside,” she said.

Customers at the Stretton convenience store raised £777 for the Brownies by donating the dividends they earned on their shopping.

The money was allocated from the Tamworth Co-op’s Community Dividend Fund scheme which raises a five-figure sum for good causes each year.

Fellow leader Karen Pott described the amount received as ‘fantastic’ and said the entire pack was amazed by the total.

“We can still hardly believe it,” she said.

“It will finance a wonderful day out. Thank you Tamworth Co-op!”

“As somebody who was involved in the movement myself I know just how hard it is to find funds for something like this. I’m delighted to be in the position to hand over a substantial sum of money on behalf of the Tamworth Co-op. We hope they have an unforgettable outing.”
