As you may have seen in the media the former Department Store premises are being sold to the Tamworth Borough Council following an award from the “Future High Streets Fund” and the Society will close all functions operating out of those premises at 2:00pm on Thursday 24th February 2022.
The Society itself is not closing in any way – whilst we will no longer own the former Department Store we will still be trading in our convenience store locations, continuing to arrange funerals as well as maintaining our property investments. Our head office will be relocating directly across the street on Colehill (8 Colehill – at one time the Co-op Bank) and when building work has finished that building will house our Members’ Services counter, the Bereavement Centre, and our central offices. Those facilities will offer improved access and facilities, with Members’ Services being on the ground floor.
Unfortunately the building there is not as yet ready for us to occupy so we will be utilising a temporary facility outside of the Town Centre for a number of weeks. For membership enquiries during that period, including share accounts and dividend enquiries, please telephone:
01827 63711 extension 1232 between 12:30 pm and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. (Please note that this service will be available after the relocation period so from Tuesday 1st March onwards).
Any postal correspondence sent to 5 Colehill will be forwarded to our temporary address and we will of course respond. Unfortunately we will not be set up to admit visitors at our temporary home as we will not have any form of counter service there, but that will resume from when we occupy 8 Colehill which should be during April 2022.
