Co-op garage is a driving force behind new Tamworth charity   

Tamworth Co-op garage and MOT centre has topped up a new charity’s fundraising tank and reaffirmed its ongoing support. Tamworth Forever Fund aims to generate an ever increasing charity pot for generations to come. Cash donated to the fund is invested by experts at Staffordshire Community Foundation and Interest is divided between community groups on an annual basis.

Tamworth Co-op cash will help stroke victims to recover

People recovering from strokes are to benefit from a valuable  physiotherapy aid, thanks to the Tamworth Co-operative Society. A £783 cheque from the Society will enable the Step Forward Stroke Support Group to buy an ‘Able X’ – a piece of exercise equipment which can help people to recover movement in their bodies.

Pre-school services will be ‘enhanced’ by Society cash

A village pre-school says a bumper cheque it has received from the Tamworth Co-operative Society will ‘enhance’ the service it provides to both children and parents. Christine Finney, manager of Kingsbury Village Pre School, says the group was expecting to receive around £300 from the Tamworth Co-op’s Community Dividend Fund.

Hundreds of pupils cheer the Tamworth Co-op at assembly

More than 300 Tamworth pupils enjoyed a surprise announcement during their morning assembly. Richard Osborn, head teacher of Coton Green Primary School, told the delighted youngsters that he had received a cheque for nearly £1,300 from the Tamworth Co-op. To loud cheers he then revealed that the school council had decided the money should be spent on colourful board games for the play area. They include word puzzles and even a penalty shoot-out.

Tamworth Co-op is helping to rehome Scout group

Polesworth Abbey Scout Group has taken a major step closer to having a purpose-built home, thanks to the Tamworth Co-operative Society. The 24 beavers, 36 cubs and 35 scouts found themselves homeless when the land housing their old scout hut was sold for development. In recent times they have been forced to meet at temporary venues including Nethersole Primary Academy.

Pre-school joy over play area cash gift from the Co-op

A Burton pre school is to enjoy a playground makeover thanks to a donation from the Tamworth Co-op’s Community Dividend Fund. Shoppers at the Stanton Co-op convenience store donated the dividends they earned on their purchases to the Glebe Pre School a mile or so down the road.

Tamworth Co-op and volunteers answer Dordon church’s prayers

The grounds of a North Warwickshire church are set to be given some regular TLC, thanks to community spirited locals and a bumper cheque from the Tamworth Co-op. St Leonard’s Church in Dordon is known for its large grounds, but finding the funds for maintenance has become increasingly challenging. Rev Ann Simmons says her prayers for help have now been answered by the local community. Several people have volunteered their services as gardeners and a timely £581 cheque from the Tamworth Co-operative Society means they will be given the tools they need to maintain the churchyard.
